The Indonesian arm of Bajaj Auto Limited, PT Bajaj Auto Indonesia (BAI), is targeting sales of 1,200 bikes during the ongoing Jakarta fair in Indonesia. The company has set this target after gauging the response of the public towards its products at the fair.

After revealing the design sketches and a teaser video, Kawasaki has now revealed the first official picture of its 2011 Ninja ZX-10R litre-class superbike. The image revealed is of the track version of the bike and not of the production version, which will be available in Kawasaki showrooms, once the bike has been launched sometime in 2011.

Bajaj’s Discover 100cc has started to clip market leader Hero Honda’s wings in the Indian two-wheeler space. The bike has helped Bajaj increase its market share from 25 to 34 %, while on the other hand Hero Honda’s market share has gone down to 47 % from 56 %.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) has reported a 41.5 % jump in its overall sales figures for the month of June 2010. The company managed to sell 1,46,073 units in June 2010 as opposed to 1,03,209 units sold during the same month last year.

Two-Wheeler giant Honda has plans to take the pricing of its motorcycles back to the levels at which they were in the year 2000, but only in its home country of Japan. This move comes on the back of the growing disinterest in motorcycles amongst youngsters in Japan.

A survey conducted by the Road Safety Foundation in Britain has revealed that 1 out of every 4 fatal or serious crashes which occur on the A-roads or motorways of Britain involves a motorcyclist. The report of the survey titled Saving Lives for Less also found that 1/3 rd of all the fatal or serious crashes occur at road junctions.

In an interview with Financial Chronicle, Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Managing Director of Kinetic Motor Company, has said that Taiwanese company SYM, still has a 11% stake in Kinetic Motor Company. Piaggio has revealed a 278 cc version of its hybrid MP3 three-wheeled scooter. The company had only last year revealed the world’s first hybrid scooter, the MP3 hybrid. The new scooter has been christened the Piaggio MP3 hybrid 300ie.

The growth rate of the scooter segment of the Indian two-wheeler market has doubled over the first two months of the current fiscal, when compared with that of motorcycles. Traditionally, the growth rate of scooters and motorcycles has been the same.
