Bajaj Auto is riding high on the success of its Discover range of motorcycles as it plans to increase the production of the bike to a whopping 2 million units per annum.
The Discover is giving quite a competition to commuter bikes from the Hero Honda stable and has helped Bajaj increases its market share form 16.64% to 25.71% from April- August this fiscal. But Hero Honda has suffered a blow with its market share falling from 73.85% to 61.62% during the same period.
The Discover 100 cc launched in July last year has been firing the sales chart and helping Bajaj surge ahead. What is ironical is that Bajaj had decided not to enter the commuter bike segment again and focus on the premium bikes instead, but then it went ahead and launched the Discover 100cc- and look what a success it has become!
