Bajaj’s has brought out enough successful products in the past to showcase what it is capable of. From the time of the Chetak, KB 100 (aka the Kawasaki gto-100) to the Caliber, etc, some have been Bajaj’s own designs and some were taken from its tech partner Kawasaki.

KTM, Kawasaki and Bajaj have a tieup in India. Bajaj being the backbone of the tie-up is taking care of the manufacturing of the motorcycles whilst KTM and Kawasaki will be bringing in the technology. On an interview conducted, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of BAL told media that the the new plans in development will include expansion of the existing plants.

After the Bajaj-KTM tie up, it finally looks like the first of the dukes are about to hit the road. The duke 125 recently caught being tested by Motoroids, tells a tale. Even though much of the motorcycle will be localized, the estimated cost still is at a whooping Rs 100,000 to Rs 135,000.

The 125 KTM Duke is preparing for entering the Indian market. The 125cc KTM Duke has all the ingredients one would not expect in a 125cc bike in India, or for that matter even from a 150cc.
The KTM Duke 125 has a 125cc liquid cooled , DOHC engine also having fuel injection and four valves. The power and torque figures can put 150cc bike in India to shame, except for maybe the Yamaha YZF R15.

Bajaj Auto is riding high on its successful year in the Indian Market. Both its commuter bikes and high end bikes are doing pretty well and the company hopes to continue this trend. Next year Bajaj will be launching at least two brand new motorcycles to cater to the needs of the customer.

The KTM 125 Duke is expected to hit Indian shores by the end of June next year and it will be produced at Bajaj’s Chakan plant. 1 lakh a pop for a 125cc bike might sound a lot, but wait until you see the teaser video before making rash conclusions.

KTM has published a little more information on the 125 Duke naked street motorcycle that debuts in the coming months. The 125 Duke will be either manufactured or assembled in India at Bajaj’s Chakan plant and the price is expected to hit the 1 lakh rupee mark.

Bajaj India which is currently evaluating their KTM range for an Indian debut, will most likely start with the 125cc Avatar motorcycle in the first quarter of next year. These bikes could be locally manufactured to keep costs under control. The bikes could be priced at around 1 lakh rupees.

We all know KTM is developing a naked street motorcycle scheduled for a march 2011 release. Soon after the international launch, we hear Bajaj will import the bikes into India as CKD and assemble it at its facility in Chakan.
The concept motorcycle was displayed at the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo e Motociclo e Accessori (EICMA) or the Milan Motorcycle Show in 2009. As KTM had probably forgot [...]
