Mr Anand Mahindra, vice chairman and MD of the Mahindra group said the engineers will recalibrate the Stallio and re-launched in the market. Problems were reported on the Stallio’s gearbox and these must be addressed during the update. The company has not produced any Stallios in the last two months. Mahindra has focused on rectifying the motorcycle’ problem instead of launching the a new version after having taken the corrective measures. The styling of the revised Stallio will also be different.

The Stallio displaces 106.7 cc, producing maximum power of 7.3 PS @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque 8.0 Nm @ 5500 rpm.

The company will introduce the second motorcycle, a 300cc liquid cooled sports bike Mojo in the current financial year. The media report does not give a specific time frame, but the motorcycle should come during Diwali or debut at the Auto Expo 2012.

Ours is a country where Cricket rules the roost when it comes to sports. The astronomical amounts spent in the IPL auctions are just a small example for this phenomena. But where did this incomprehensible publicity and madness come from?

Though cricket has been there for ages, it was only after 1983 that it rose to the present point of pinnacle in India. If you are wondering whats the relevance to cricket in this story, it is simple. Unless a player or a team from your nation performs well and makes a mark in a particular sport, you never give the sport the amount of commendation it deserves.

Its almost 106 years since the first road race took place in India and hence by no means, motorsports is new to India. But due to poor infrastructure and the exorbitant funding required, the sport was pursued only by the stinking rich. Also, the lack of an established team or driver at the highest level proved to be a stumbling block for the popularity of the fastest sport.

Though F1 and MotoGP became famous in the 90′s, it was only after Narain Karthikeyan raced in F1 in 2005, motorsports gained significant prominence among the aam-admi of India. With the entry of Force India F1 team in 2007, the awareness about the sport spread thick and fast among the entire population of the country.

An interesting point to note is that even till today, MotoGP is not as famous as F1 in India. Probably the fact that there was neither an Indian driver nor an Indian team is the main reason.

But 2011 promises to be different with both an Indian driver and an Indian team taking part in the 125cc MotoGP championships. Mahindra & Mahindra becomes the first Indian manufacturer to take in the prestigious 62 year old competition.

The racing team has been christened as Mahindra Racing and will have two young lads from the UK and Germany representing them. Danny Webb, one of the riders for the team, is a 19 year-old racer from the UK while his team-mate is Marcel Schrötter from Germany.

The acquisition of Engines Engineering, Italy is the primary driving force behind this venture. The Italian company has been building race bikes and has been a technical consultant for several MotoGP teams in the past. The Mahindra Racing’s motorcycle is fully designed and developed by the Italian firm and was showcased at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

The Italian engineers from Engines Engineering are confident of their hard work and hope that their 8 years of efforts repays them with a win in this year’s 125cc MotoGP championship.

For M&M though, it is a massive brand building exercise and an excellent platform to showcase their capability to the global audience. M&M recently launched its first motorcycle called the Stallio which received a lukewarm response. The 292cc Mojo is expected to come this April and at this juncture, M&M’s entry into the MotoGP proves to be very crucial.

The expectations are high and the pressure to perform will be enormous. And hence, it won’t be an easy task for Mahindra Racing. But it will be prove to be a great stepping stone to the future for the USD7.1 billion company.

This year’s edition will be the last year for 125cc two-stroke and with the learning experience gained from 2011, Mahindra might well venture into the four-stroke 250cc category next year. The rumours pertaining to the staging of a MotoGP race in India are growing every single day and if it turns out to be true, the Indian audience will have a bigger incentive of supporting a home team at home.

Lets just hope that Mr.Anand Mahindra does a Mr.Vijay Mallya and furls the Indian tricolour flag at very high heights in the annals of motorycle racing.

Mahindra 2 Wheelers is doing a brand building exercise and in an attempt to popularize the brand among the youth, the company has roped in Bollywood Superstars Aamir Khan & Kareena Kapoor as brand ambassadors.

The 1st advert has gone on air and it features Kareena Kapoor along with Aamir Ali riding around on the Mahindra Rodeo. The concept is very cliché and it is a rather cheesy advertisement.

It does not really highlight the features of the Rodeo except for a mobile phone charging port in the under seat storage compartment.

Mahindra scooter ad with Kareena Kapoor visuals

Kareena Kapoor and the Mahindra Rodeo make a good couple

Nevertheless the advert is cute and will attract a major chunk of young buyers and Kareena Kapoor’s presence will ensure that Rodeo sales surge ahead.

Mahindra Mojo Official information

Disclaimer – The Mahindra Mojo official information is released by Mahindra and may not necessarily echo our views on the motorcycle

Think Flower Power. Think groovy classic style but with a contemporary twist. Think Mahindra Mojo.

A testosterone packed 300 cc bike with cool retro styling, the Mojo blends the best of global motorcycle technology and design. It is a handcrafted machine and a one of its kind lifestyle motorcycle which will soon go into production. Mahindra 2 Wheelers has, in fact, devised a unique marketing and promotion strategy for this ultimate performance bike which will be revealed when the bike will be available for sale in the next 3-4 months.

This modern classic is driven by a 4V DOHC engine which offers peak power of 26 BHP @ 8500 rpm and maximum torque of 24 Nm @ 7000 rpm, making it a performance biker’s dream come true. It also features a 6 speed gearbox, as opposed to the regular 5 speed gearbox found amongst its peers, along with a sporty dual exhaust for the right propulsion.

The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system has been developed by Ducati Energia of Italy. In an industry first, the Mojo sports inverted front shock absorbers developed by Paioli of Italy, which ensures superior shock absorbing ability at high speeds. This is complemented by a horizontally mounted mono shox at the rear, allowing for much more comfortable ride. Radially mounted assembly also helps in accurate braking.

The Mojo is the first ever motorcycle in India to sport Pirelli tubeless radials. They are also the widest tyres in their class (4” x 17” at the rear), ensuring greater stability. These are complemented by edgy front petal disc brakes which are the largest in the segment at 320 mm to ensure safe braking. There’s a disc brake at the rear as well.

The bike also features LED pilot lamps and tail lamps with clear lens indicators in the headlamp, ensuring greater visibility for the rider. The display includes a digital speedometer with fuel gauge, tripmeter, gear shift indicator, and analogue tachometer. The bike also sports indicators on the rear view mirrors, which are not seen on Indian bikes.

This showstopper sports an aerodynamic ‘tear drop’ shape and a classic gold frame assembly with twin headlamps adding to the bike’s distinctly retro look. The dual pipe frame adds strength to the overall structure of the bike, while the under cowl enhances the Mojo’s macho appeal. This ‘exoskeleton’ look is usually only found in top notch brands.

The Mojo is available in a choice of two colours – red and black. Customers also have the option of customising their bikes with a range of decals.

The Two Wheeler Sector of Mahindra aims to design and market a full range of scooters and motorcycles for the Indian and global markets, thus establishing a robust and end-to-end two-wheeler business in every segment of the industry.

Mahindra Mojo engine

Mahindra Mojo is powered by a liquid cooled 300cc engine with fuel injection. When you’re talking of high displacement, the cooling system needs to be liquid. Liquid absorbs heat better, and Mahindra’s teaser video it previewed earlier this month, had a bike with a radiator. The Mahindra Mojo is installed with a 4-valve engine. The bike’s electronic fuel injection system comes from an Italian motorcycle company named Ducati (just for those who didn’t know the origin) which responds to throttle inputs as well as other parameters such as gradient and instructs the injector to deliver a richer mixture. The engine has dual exhausts which ease back pressure and should generate an awesome note while revved.

Mahindra Mojo suspension

The Mojo comes with inverted front forks usually found on motorcycles that belong to racing teams. At the rear Mahindra fits the Mojo with gas chargers that respond to the terrain better and keep the riders on their seats all the time.

Mahindra Mojo brakes

The Mahindra Mojo comes fitted with disc brakes to the front and rear alloy wheels. The disc brakes provide immediate stopping power and suffer less from fading. They also get radial calipers which are more effective compared to regular ones.

Mahindra Mojo instrument cluster

The Mahindra Mojo has a digital instrument cluster that notifies the rider of speed, fuel remaining, rpm and time. There is also a gear indicator and all this lights up on a blue background.

Mahindra Mojo electricals

The Mojo gets twin headlamps and LED tail lamps that are resistant to failure during extreme vibration, have longer life and consume lesser power. As a safety feature, Mahindra places the LED indicator lights on the mirrors of the Mahindra Mojo.

According to a media report, one motorcycle will be a a high performance two-wheeler along the lines of the Bajaj Pulsar and Hero Honda Karizma.

Since Mahindra has used the word “range” on its invitation, we speculate that the second motorcycle will be a commuter bike. Going through the list of names that appeared on Mahindra motorcycles’ facebook page, we picked the Mahindra Stallio as our favorite going forward with this speculative article.

“These world class bikes are worthy additions to the Mahindra 2 Wheelers product portfolio and are part of our commitment to establish a robust, end-to-end two wheeler business in every segment of the industry,” said Mr. Anoop Mathur, President Two Wheeler Sector and Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

“Both bikes incorporate world class R&D and design elements from our Bologna, Italy based design house, Engines Engineering and are best suited for Indian biking conditions.

The Stallio offers a host of features unheard of in its segment and is ideal for the avant-garde young executive or businessman who desires a rugged and reliable yet stylish bike. We are delighted to have Aamir Khan, the brand ambassador for the Stallio, present at the launch today, as he personifies Mahindra’s can do spirit, capturing the imagination of the masses. The Mojo is a performance oriented, power packed bike and is the ultimate machine for motorcycle enthusiasts who are passionate about biking,” he added.

The Stallio was unveiled by actor, producer and director, Aamir Khan, whose thought provoking movies have served to both entertain and inspire an entire generation of young Indians.

“Mahindra is a solid company with very strong and long standing goodwill. The bike that the Mahindra Group is launching, the Stallio, is a stylish bike offering consumers a great sense of comfort. It’s a complete bike that offers safety, style and peace of mind. I am sure it will soon be one of India’s iconic brands. I am very pleased to be associated with the Mahindras and the Stallio,” said Aamir.

The Mahindra Stallio is available in two variants – Self Start / Cast Alloy wheels / Digital Console and Kick Start / spoke wheels which are available at Rs.44,699/- and 41,199/- (ex showroom Pune), respectively, while the Mahindra Mojo is priced at Rs. 1.75 lac/- (ex showroom Pune). The Stallio will be available at 370 Mahindra 2 Wheelers dealerships across the country. The Stallio comes with a four year manufacturer’s warranty. The distribution model for Mojo will be different and therefore, would be available only in select outlets.

The Mahindra Stallio and Mojo are all set to storm the motorcycle segment with their sleek, sporty contours, Italian styling and comfort. The bikes incorporate design elements from the Italian boutique design house, Engines Engineering which has worked for marques such as Ducati, MV Augusta and Benelli.

Mahindra launched a “range of motorcycles” in Mumbai today and the event was hosted by none other that Mr.Anand Mahindra himself.

Mahindra Stallio introduction

We had reported a few months back on the possibility of a 110cc motorcycle that would sit on the defunct Kinetic Boss platform. The engines for this commuter motorcycle (from here on referred to as Mahindra Stallio) could be sourced from China.

Mahindra Stallio engine and gearbox

After going through some of its competitors like Bajaj’s Discover, Honda’s Shine, TVS’s Jive, etc, we determined that the Mahindra Stallio’s 110cc air-cooled engine is a good idea. This is mated to a 4-speed gearbox (one up, three down pattern).

Mahindra Stallio electricals

Mahindra Stallio will have a multi-reflector headlamp. At the rear, the Mahindra Stallio will have LED tail lamp. The benefits of the LED tail lamp is hard to miss – it’s resistant to vibration, operates with less energy, is more visible during fog, needs no maintenance, and responds faster than a conventional bulb. Electric start is a feature Mahindra has added given it saves a lot of energy for the tired commuter.

Mahindra Stallio features

Mahindra’s not gone in for a twin grab rail. Instead, they have opted for the conventional arch found on many of its competitors. The Mahindra Stallio comes with a digital instrument cluster? The speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge are compulsory on a bike of this kind. A trip meter, odometer and a clock are the other additions.

Mahindra Stallio styling and utility

An utility box under the fuel tank is a great idea. Alloy wheels are offered on the more expensive Mahindra Stallio variant. Like on any other motorcycle telescopic rear suspension feature.

Mahindra Stallio colors

Mahindra offers five colors on the Mahindra Stallio – red, green, blue, yellow and black are available.

Yes, Mahindra two-wheelers are going to launch their range of motorcycles on 30th of this month in Mumbai.

Its just a matter of few days now when all the speculations regarding the Mahindra motorcycles will come to an end and everyone will have a clear cut picture of what this company has to offer.

Coming to the most important question that which bikes Mahindra is going to launch? So the answer is Diablo and A02.

Diablo, as most of you must have already read in our previous posts will be a powerful 300cc bike having 4-stroke liquid cooled engine. Targetted at the premium segment this bike will fall under the likes of the people who enjoy speed and sheer power.

On the other hand A02 will be a commuter bike focussed on daily commuting. providing high efficiency and more mileage to the customers. A02 will be nothing but rebadged Kietic Boss modified as per the current demands.

So what happened to the Cevalo? Well, the chances are that Cevalo or something similar wil be brought in at a later date.

The launch event will happen in Mumbai and expect Mahindra two wheelers brand ambassador Amir Khan to be present at the launch.

With bikes in both premium and commuter segement Mahindra wants to please everyone one of us. Personally, I have a lot of expectations from Mahindra motorcycles and it would be interesting to see how things shape up for the company.

After a good response in scooter segment, Mahindra Two-Wheelers is expected to come out with its 125cc Cevalo motorcycle in India, replicating Yamaha’s success and even moving a step-further. Its contemporary styling and simple chassis design approach make it attractive to look at.

This naked beauty, with a muscular tank and sporty aesthetics, certainly looks better than FZ-S, or for that matter, any 150cc bike available in India including Pulsar and Apache. On one hand, the split-seat guarantees comfort and on the other, easy to maneuver. Its huge tires provide more stability to its design with its add-on attractive stylish alloys.

This 125cc engine provides 15 Bhp of peak power with SOHC, 4- Valve, air-cooled and electronic fuel injection. The 17 Inch wheels have wide tires of Rear- 140/60 and Front 110/70, with simple Mono-Shock Absorbing Suspension geometry.

The Exhaust endows it with a "power bike" look to this mechanically advanced aerodynamic masked bike. A gear-indicator and a clock brings some extra bit of information on the go.

Stepping into the league of 125 cc segment, i.e. one of the largest motor-cycle segments of India, will certainly win the hearts of Indian customers right on the first look pushing them to buy one for themselves.
