Honda to launch CBR150R by January 2011

Honda CBR150R will make it to the Indian market much before than the CBR250R. The CBR150R is expected to make it here by January 2011, reports Motorbeam.

The Honda CBR150R will take on the Yamaha’s YZF R15 in a head-to-head competition. On paper the CBR150R seems to have an edge over the R15 as it is capable of producing 20ps of power as opposed to the 17 ps produced by the 150cc engine on R15. It would be interesting to see if Honda launches the CBR150R with 20PS capacity in India.

The Honda CBR150's rear is reminiscent of the CB Twister

The CBR150R is equipped with wider tires as compared to R15. The R15′s rear tire has a size of 100/80-17 which surprisingly is the size of the front tire of CBR150R. The size of the CBR 150R’ rear tire is 130/70-17, the same size as the Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

Honda CBR150's digital speedo and read-outs is a helpful feature

The Honda CBR150R is expected to give a mileage of 35kmpl (speculative) which I think would be less than what the R15 can deliver. I have heard people claiming their R15s to give a mileage of 40kmpl. So in typical Indian riding conditions I think the CBR 150R should give somewhere around 30kmpl easily.

We also expect the CBR150R to have punchy top-end and better pickup compared to its rival from Yamaha going by its superior technical specs. Honda might price the CBR150R just around 1 lakh and a few thousand rupees lesser than the R15 to catch the attention of mini sports bike lovers.
