Taking inspiration from the Bollywood movie ’3 Idiots’, five students of the Gyan Vihar University in Jaipur have developed a bike that runs on just air. Yeah compressed air that is.

In the movie Aamir Khan sends out a message to the youth to come up with innovations so that they can use what they learn and impressed with his catchphrase, ‘All is well’ in the movie, these young students have named their air compressed engine bike, ‘All Is Well’.

The students have taken a 2-stroke motor and forced in compressed air through the engine cylinder. As the compressed air pushes down the piston down, the pressure drops and air escapes through the exhaust ports. While the inertia of the moving parts bring back the piston up and hence again the compression cycle starts.

Though the bikes needs to be attached to a high performance air compressor at all times which isn’t exactly make this ‘wonder’ bike mobile, it does signal towards a new direction in motoring and there is tremendous scope in developing the capability of a bike powered by air compressed engines.

This zero pollution air-driven bike is capable of touching a top speed of 30 kmph and the students are trying to get some funding to develop their product so as to increase its viability for mass production.
