Could Kawasaki bring the Ninja 400R to India?

Kawasaki Ninja 400R

The Kawasaki Ninja 400R could be launched into the Indian two-wheeler market, once it has been debuted internationally later this year. The bike will be sold internationally as a 2011 model and so could reach Indian shores sometime next year or early 2012.

The Ninja 400R possesses a 399 cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, parallel twin, 4-stroke motor which has claimed power and torque figures of 43 bhp and 37 Nm. The Ninja 400R also has an offset rear monoshock, which looks like an element of the bike’s overall design. The bike has a one-piece seat, unlike the 250R’s split unit and a fully digital instrumentation console.

The Ninja 400R, if launched in India, could be priced around the 4.5-lakh mark, considering that the Ninja 250R retails for 3-lakhs plus on-road and the Ninja 650R will be joining the lineup at a price of around 6-lakhs on-road. If Kawasaki prices the bike at under 5-lakhs, it could find many takers for the bike, considering that there is no other 400 cc offering from any other company and the pricing translates to decent value for one’s money.
