After the Bajaj-KTM tie up, it finally looks like the first of the dukes are about to hit the road. The duke 125 recently caught being tested by Motoroids, tells a tale. Even though much of the motorcycle will be localized, the estimated cost still is at a whooping Rs 100,000 to Rs 135,000.
To justify the steep price for a mere 125cc, the new KTM has a bunch of firsts that have officially been launched on the Indian roads. Weighing in at mere 128kgs, and producing 15Bhp, the motorcycle sure will stir things up on the road.
Backed with a modern trellis frame, rear monshock and 43mm upside down front forks, the bike definitely takes away a lot of stares.
All in all, ignoring the fact that it is a 125, the bike is bang for the buck!
Alternatives for the duke are few thanks to the awkward price to displacement relationship. But still Yamaha YZF-R15, Apache RTR 180, Apache RTR 160Fi seem to be the only real competitors.
