In order to further consolidate the Discover brand, Bajaj Autos is expected to launch a 150cc version Discover on 10th of this month. There was news that Bajaj has something big in its pocket which it will disclose to the world on 10th May but there is no confirmation of what exactly it would be. But it is more likely expected this “big” thing to be the Discover 150cc.

This 150cc bike would be targeted at the commuter segment and thereby expected to have better fuel efficiency than Pulsar 150. This bike will be placed just under the Pulsar 150 and above the Pulsar 135 LS and so would be the price. The bike is expected to have 14.1 ps of power and 12.8 NM of torque.

We will come back to our readers with more concrete news on this along with the confirmed technical specs of the bike soon.

Bajaj to launch 150cc Discover commuter bike

Bajaj discover 150 ccThe Bajaj Discover 150cc could have 14.1ps and 12.8NM

To increase volumes of the Discover brand, Bajaj Auto has understood that it needs multiple products with own identities to achieve its target. The company’s first step in that direction would be a new 150 cc motorcycle that’s meant for the commuter.

The Bajaj Discover 150 cc would be priced and positioned below Pulsar 150 cc and is likely to cost around Rs 50,000. There will be key differentiators, like the engine will be tuned for better fuel efficiency and the styling adopted will be in favor of the commuter class, to keep the similarly priced Pulsar 135 away from extinction.

The DTSi engined Discover, according to sources will be launched in the next 45 days to boost volume of Discover from 80,000 units to 150,000 units a month.

We will be launching a bigger Discover, but I can’t comment on the engine specification

The Bajaj Discover 150cc DTSi will appeal to rural area buyers with its appealing price tag and better mileage. Bajaj has to keep the Discover 150 well clear of the lower displacement Pulsar 135 as cannibalization could cause mayhem to both the brands.
