Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) has reported a 41.5 % jump in its overall sales figures for the month of June 2010. The company managed to sell 1,46,073 units in June 2010 as opposed to 1,03,209 units sold during the same month last year.

The company also reported a 50 % growth in sales of its motorcycles with 66,334 units sold during the month. On the other hand, scooter sales of the company reported a relatively modest growth figure of 35 % with a sale of 79,739 units.

It looks like as if the the company’s newly launched products such as the CB Twister and CB Unicorn Dazzler are helping it a great deal by contributing handsomely to the overall sales figures, but the company will need to get its act together and ensure that its products are delivered to customers as soon as possible, who otherwise will definitely consider going in for the products offered by rival manufacturers.

HMSI, which launched the 110cc CB Twister a few weeks back is riding on a wave of bookings and inquiries.

Since the launch of the CB Twister, Honda has received around 20,000 bookings for the stylish commuter and successfully delivered over 50% of that volume (11,000 bikes) to its customers. The CB twister is equipped a 110 cc engine, delivering 9BHP of power. The company, with this model, is adding style to the otherwise drab 100cc options.

The Honda CB Twister is available in three variants; – Kick Drum Alloy available at Rs. 42,637, Self Drum Alloy Rs. 45,693, Self Disc Alloy at Rs. 48,749, all ex-showroom prices, Delhi. You can buy your Twister in Pearl Amber Yellow, Pearl Night Star Black, Pearl Siena Red, Candy Sonic Green and Pearl Fuji Blue colours.

Would you really miss something obvious if you don’t have the stylish 110cc CB Twister in your list of probables next time you head out to buy a motorcycle?

CB Twister which has been in the news for quite sometime now has finally made it to the showrooms. The launch event of the bike happened in December 2009 and it took almost 3 months for the bike to finally make it to the Honda dealerships.

Honda conducted various launch events for the twister in various cities in India in the month of February which I think could be because of the fact that the first launch event happened long time ago.

Today I thought to visit the Honda dealership in my city just to check out the bike. To my surprise it looked pretty much silent at the showroom and the new bike was placed somewhere hidden among the several other bikes standing there.

I expected the bike to be placed right at the front and the first thing any customer would notice while entering the showroom should have been the new Twister, but that was not the case.

I stood there for around 5-10 minutes and not a single person from the dealership came to me to ask what my query was. After a few minutes one guy noticed my presence, I asked him about the twister. Before he told me anything about the bike’s features he asked me “in cash or finance?” This meant that he wanted to know if I would be buying this bike in cash or looking to get it financed. Never thought that these people are in such a hurry of selling their bikes!

I asked them a few questions regarding the bike which I already knew the answers for, I was just behaving as a potential customer to them and pretended as if I didn’t knew anything about the bike.

In the end I was a bit disappointed with the overall treatment I got from the people in charge of the showroom.

Now coming back to the bike, there was only one CB Twister present at the showroom. The Candy Sonic Green color looked amazing and let me tell you that the bike doesn’t look like a 110cc commuter bike by any means and looks muscular enough. The drum brake version was at the display, interestingly the rear grab rails of the bike are somewhat merged with the rear portion of the bike( you would have to look at the bike yourself to understand what I mean here), it might create an impression that there are no rear grab rails at all.

The meter console was simple with analog odo meter and speedo meter, fuel indicator, turn indicator and high beam indicator.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India launched the 110cc CB Twister in Chennai on 15th of this month. The CB Twister was launched in December last year in New Delhi as well but has not made it to the showrooms till now.

As per the company officials the CB Twister will be the best in its class when it comes to the pickup and initial acceleration. The 110c bike would not be a boring commuter bike but would add fun to your ride.

The bike comes up with a 110 cc engine capable of producing 9 BHP of power. The other useful features of the bike include tubeless tires, maintenance free battery and viscous air filter. The company claims the mileage of the bike to be 70kmpl.

The bike will be available in five colors, electric yellow metallic, candy palm green, pearl nightstar black, pearl siena red and pearl Fiji blue. The bike has three variants which are kick drum alloy(Rs. 41,850), self drum alloy(Rs.44,850) and self disc alloy(Rs. 47,850), all these prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

The 125cc Honda CBF Stunner has been doing pretty well and is popular among the youth and similar is expected from this 110cc motorcycle from Honda.

The bike should be available at the nearest dealership near you by the end of this month.
