Official – Suzuki to launch GSX-R1000 next month

Suzuki-GSX-R1000

Suzuki Motorcycles really took the high end imported bike market by storm when it introduced the Hayabusa and the IntrUder M1800 into the Indian market in 2008.

Till now Suzuki Motorcycles India Ltd has managed to sell more than 150 units through just seven dealerships. Encouraged by the overwhelming response to these exotic machines, Suzuki is planning to launch the highly acclaimed ‘Gixxer’, the Suzuki GSX-R in the Indian market soon.

Atul Gupta, VP (Sales and Marketing), Suzuki Motorcycles India-

Suzuki is all set to support the craziest and sportiest young enthusiasts who are looking for these mean machines. We have sold around 150 units of two superbikes launched last year. Because of the increasing demand, we will expand the number of dealerships selling such bikes from seven to 12 across the country. We are also looking to launch our GSX-R1000 by next month.

Powered by a monstrous 1,000cc inline four cylinder engine pumping out 191bhp, this bike boasts of price tag of US$11,500 abroad and as Suzuki would be bringing this bike as a CBU, it would attract a hefty import tax of a little more than 100% which would result in a sticker price between 10 to 12 lakh rupees in the Indian Market.

2010 GSX R1000 After the launch of 2010 Yamaha YZF R1 Suzuki brings in their 2010 GSX R1000

Suzuki India is planning to add two more sports bikes to its line up in our country. After receiving a good response to the Hayabusa and Intruder Suzuki is launching the GSX-R1000 and the Bandit 1250S in India.

Yamaha have recently launched their 2010 YZF R1 and the launch of these two bikes shows that Suzuki doesn’t wants to be left unnoticed. The 2010 GSX-R1000 is almost similar to its 2009 version except that the 2010 version will sport new paint schemes.

The Bandit on the other hand will have a 1250cc engine along with a quarter fairing. There are chances that the ABS version might get launched in India.

The launch will happen on 15th of this month in Delhi. The GSX-R1000 is expected to be prices around Rs. 12.5 lakh and the Bandit 1250S around Rs. 9 lakh.

Its good to see that Suzuki is bringing the bikes from its international line up to India but I personally feel that they should launch some exciting models in the 150cc to 250cc range as well in the country.
