We all know that two stroke motorcycle engines are already extinct from almost everywhere due to the strict emission norms. The two stroke motorcycles like Yamaha RD 350 and RX 100 were at their peak in the '80s and early '90s in our country.

Well if you think that you will never be able to ride a two stoke bike again then things might change for you. Companies like Bimota, Italy are trying hard to improve the two stroke technology in such a way that these bikes could fit into the emission norms.

As can be seen from these concept images of Yamaha RD350 that the two stroke motorcycles might make a comeback. With the advancement of the technology, the first challenge is to design a two stroke engine that is able to pass the emission norms.

The recent innovations in the two-stroke outboard boat motor technology can somehow be used to design two stroke motorcycle engines. The challenge Bimota and others faced in this matter has been the inability to get the air-fuel mixture flow efficiently at the higher engine revs. This long standing issue might get resolved with the advanced fuel injection system along with use of some effective catalyzers.

Until these challenges are overcome we cant expect the two stroke bikes to make a come back. The bikes shown in the concept images are expected to achieve a power to weight ratio close to that of a 600cc bike.

Don't we miss the power of RD350 Rx 100?
