Tamil Nadu based TVS Motor have ambitious plans for their scooters. The company sells the Scooty and Wego in India and is eying Honda’s 50+ percent market share in the gearless scooter segment.
The company shifted its focus from electric scooters to combustion models. It even plans to put a new motorcycle on the market in the following weeks.
The way forward for TVS is developing scooters that will appeal to the younger buyers as well. Sure, the Wego is a stylish commuter, but it’s not going to woo the younger population. The Hero Honda Pleasure is a type of model which TVS has to imitate. It could use the Wego’s base to construct one that will appeal to both the sexes.
TVS has may have been focusing very aggressively on the motorcycle segment and its three-wheeler plans for the past many months now but the company is now getting equally aggressive about its plans for the scooters segment as well.
