The TVS Scooty hybrid is expected to come by December 2010 with a higher price tag
The next stop for TVS Motor Company after the Jive and Sport, would be the Scooty with the hybrid powertrain. The model will hit the market by the end of this calender year.
The Hybrid Scooty is expected to consist of a 4-Stroke Engine working in tandem with an electrical Hub-Motor. On a single charge, the Hybrid scooty can travel 30kms.
TVS Scooty Hybrid will use a 90cc petrol engine and weighs 115 Kg. The major weight adding element is the lead-acid battery. TVS Scooty Hybrid can operate in four different modes:
* Engine only – when battery power is very low
* Electric only – for short trips & zero-fuel consumption
* Hybrid electric mode – both sources run as per the programmed strategy
* Hybrid power mode – both engine and electric together for better acceleration
The Hybrid Scooty will have 30 percent less CO2 emission as well as 30 percent better fuel efficiency.
Possibly two biggest drawbacks of the Scooty hybrid are lack of luggage space and a hefty price tag, which will be revealed during the launch. The Scooty hybrid will come in 5 different colors Breezy Blue, Mystic Mauve, Super Red, Perky Pink and Magic Black.
