The TVS Max 100R was at the helm of the 2-stroke commuter motorcycles in the 90s. As the regulations tightened, 2-stroke motorcycles went from endangered to extinct.
The Max 100R was laid to rest earlier this decade, but it didn’t take TVS too long to realize that the rural areas of India was smitten by the Max. The company, as we reported earlier, has revived the Max 100R with a 4-stroke engine borrowed from the Star City. The 110cc engine delivers 8 Bhp of power and 8.3 Nm of torque.
As this motorcycle is for the rural areas of India and simplicity is the keyword, the 4 speed gearbox will fit the bill. The Max-4R will not be popular for its styling or features. It will be suitable to carry loads of up to 200kg over long distances. It will have comfortable seats, a powerful headlamp, quad shock absorbers that will provide it the capability to ply in areas where roads are only a distant dream. The engine and gearbox will be modified to return maximum fuel economy.
The bike, according to our friends at IndianCarsBikes, will cost 40,000 rupees on-road in TVS’s hometown Chennai.
