Indian 2 wheeler market is filled with the widest range of segments in the world. For instance we have the niche segment, the cruisers, the mid segment and the economy bikes.

But there once used to be a segment which was between the economy bikes and the mopeds.

From past we have seen geared avantis, explorers and even the bare bones Bajaj Byk. These were real down to earth machines designed and developed with only three things in mind, economy and economy & economy.

No, this is not a typo. Manufacturers have their eyes set on this field again as they will be able to deliver a whole new set of products that will be a slight relief from the already saturated economy segment.

So the above mentioned points can be elaborated as fuel economy, economy based on purchasing power and the economics of the company itself.

This segment cant be described as an untouched one but it never reached its full popularity owing to lack of options. The success of the electric vehicles due to their low cost, has hinted the manufacturers that the Indian market has potential for a really low cost high economy motorcycle.

Currently Bajaj, Mahindra two-wheelers, Honda, Hero Honda and now even TVS has shown interest in the segment.
