This special edition YZF R15 costs 2k more than the previous version of the bike
The limited edition White n red paint scheme YZF R15 which was displayed at the 2010 Auto Expo has finally made it to the showrooms and the bookings and sales of this bike has already started.
This bike was supposed to be launched in the month of Feb this year as mentioned by the Yamaha officials at the Auto Expo. However it took some time for this bike to finally come into the market.
So what is different in this bike?
Well, apart from the new paint scheme nothing has changed in this bike. The technical specs remains the same but there is one change which none of us would appreciate, i.e. this edition of the bike costs 2k more than the previous variant. The dealer told me that the bike would cost approximately Rs. 1,06,000 on road Delhi.
The exhaust of the bike has also been changed this time and given metallic silver look instead of the traditional black finish exhaust.
While I was gathering more info about this bike, I called up one of the Yamaha dealers in my city. To my surprise he told me that the production of this special edition R15 has been put on hold temporarily due to some technical issue and they have been instructed by Yamaha not to sell this special edition R15 even if they have it in stock. On asking what this technical issue is, he replied that even they are not aware of it as of now.
Prior to calling this dealer I had called another dealer who said that the bike is available with them. He didn’t tell me about any such issue with this bike so I’m not sure which dealer was telling the truth.
On another note, I spotted one special edition R15 in my office parking area and I clicked some images of the bike. Since I clicked these with my cell phone, the not so good quality is regretted.

Since you spotted it that means some one bought it which in turn means that the company is selling and the dealer is lying, lol.
@fas- Yes, the bike is being sold. As i mentioned that one dealer said that the bike is available and the other dealer told me about the techincal issue. He even said that they have recieved an email from Yamaha for halting the sale of this bike.
I dont think why any dealer will tell me anytihng like this when he would want to sell more of his bikes. Anyways, i just wrote what the dealer told me, may be the bike i spotted was bought prior to any such issue( if happened).
What you are saying could also be right, but i dont think of any reason for the dealer doing that.
@nazboy
bro , ur right . i bought a white r15 on 1st april , as i booked it long back . they told me the delivery date was on 27/3/09 . when i went 2 showroon ,they told the same reason that they had a mail from yamaha , not 2 give deliveries . As the service engineer from faridabad had to check the bike before the deliver . but , now i had my white machine in my home .
@santhakar- Thanks buddy for sharing your experience with us. This probably confirms that the dealer was right.
